Instructions for Use
Trap Placement:
Proper placement of the Sparktree ZEMOS Mosquito Trap is crucial for its effectiveness. The location of your Sparktree ZEMOS Mosquito Trap is a critical variable in maximizing capture rates. Most mosquito species avoid direct sunlight and wind. Shaded, sheltered areas are recommended, preferably among bushes or shrubs or near wetland areas, if any. Keep the trap away from areas frequented by humans and animals. It is best to experiment with different locations to determine the most successful placement for your Trap.
Trap Maintenance & Care:
If maintained properly, the Sparktree ZEMOS Mosquito Trap can operate at peak performance for many years. Effective trap maintenance includes trap start-up, CO2 cylinder changes, regular catch net cleaning, attractant replacement and adherence to maintenance schedules.
CO2 Cylinder Changes:
The CO2 cylinder should be replaced every 3 to 4 weeks. You will be notified about the time to replace or refill the cylinder by a notification on the machine display. The rate of CO2 gas consumption depends on the parameters pertaining to the settings of the machine.
Steps for Replacing the CO2 Cylinder:
- Disconnect the machine from the power supply and open the service door.
- Close the cylinder valve and disconnect the gas pressure regulator from the cylinder.
- Remove the cylinder from the machine and refill the same.
- Carefully place the full cylinder inside the machine and reconnect the gas pressure regulator.
- Open the cylinder valve and check to see if there is any leakage of gas in the system.
- Close the service door, reconnect the power supply and restart the machine
Caution while handling CO2 Cylinder
- Do not open the CO2 cylinder valve without the pressure regulator properly fitted.
- If you hear a hissing sound or detect any signs of CO2 leakage, try not to touch it with your hands. In case of leak, close the CO2 cylinder valve and contact the Sparktree service team by email or by calling our toll free number.
- Do not store cylinders near a heat source; the working temperature of the cylinder is -20oC to +50oC.
Cleaning the Catch Net:
Periodic cleaning of the Catch Net will extend its service life and ensure more efficient operation of the Sparktree ZEMOS Mosquito Trap.
Steps for cleaning the Catch Net:
- Disconnect the device from the power supply and open the service door.
- Remove the elastic part of the mesh from the flange on the fan housing
- Remove the catch net from the device by holding and closing the top.
- Dispose of the contents and remove any other insects.
- Install the mosquito catch net by placing the elastic part of the net over the flange on the fan housing.
Attractant Replacement:
The attractant should be replaced every 4 weeks to maintain the machine mosquito catch rate.
Steps for Replacing the Attractant:
- Disconnect the device from the power supply and open the service door.
- Close the CO2 cylinder valve, disconnect the attractant cartridge from the gas hoses and remove the cartridge from its mount.
- If you are using a liquid attractant, open the cartridge and pour the contents into the sponge material inside the cartridge.
- If you are using the attractant in the form of granules, remove the sponge material from the cartridge, remove the attractant from the plastic package and place the sachet with the granules in it.
- After replacing the attractant, close the lid, place the cartridge in the mount, and attach it to the hoses.
- Open the CO2 cylinder valve, close the service door and restart the power supply.
